The Magic of Theatre

Painted Maypole leads a cast of thousands in this made for cable movie about an actress in the chorus of a musical. The movie follows the cast during the final week of rehearsal as they struggle to overcome a director who is legally blind, many small children in the show, actors who have been cast at the last minute, scenes that have never been rehearsed, and an unfinished set. It's Waiting for Guffman meets Mr Magoo. Premieres this Saturday, January 19th at 8pm.

This week's Monday Mission is to write a post in the form of a movie synopsis. Write your own movie synopsis and post a link below. And be sure to check out all the the other brave souls who participated in this week's Mission.

Future Monday Missions:
1/21- Award Nominations (in honor of the Oscar Nominations that will be announced the next day. Your nominations can be for any kind of award you wish!)
1/28- Children's book or poem

Hey, very cool. Probably requires a PG rating, at least.

You should see what Getonthebus has up. Wow!

Can't wait til it comes out on dvd!

I realize it's cheating, but since I don't have the energy or imagination to come up with a movie synopsis today, I'll just point out that a long, long time ago, I actually did write this one.

Yikes, Maypole, been there, done those, had those weeks. You're reminding me why I quit theater. Hang in there!

HA! I would love to see that. Too funny. Tell me, how does one who is legally blind direct?
Sorry I couldn't participate on this one. I barely have a coherant thought in my head today.

Oh shoot. I told you I'm scattered today. I forgot to tell you that I left you some bloggy bling on my post today.

ok, I'm in. I'll stop being the passive reader to your blog and leave a comment. How fun, can I bring a camera to the premiere? Love this idea... thanks!

Hmm. It looks as if circumstances forced me to do next week's a week early.

BTW, if I were you I would run from that show as fast as you can.

I just posted mine. (Yes, I know it's Tuesday...)

Do you ever have nightmares like this? When I was just doing high school theatre I'd have nightmares that there was suddenly a scene I'd never rehearsed, or that the curtain opened and the set was missing, or that just before the show the director started talking to me, telling me something was "very important, you must not forget"...and then start speaking Chinese or something. Oh my.

You always amuse, friend. :)
