Play Imitates Life

The May Queen and I were playing with the 13 monkeys that were donated by a local primate center for decorations for our rain forest themed VBS. She divided them up, and we were to put them to bed on our separate couches. Then we were to go to the ottoman, which she had placed in the middle of the room. She indicated sides of the ottoman and said "This is your computer, and this is mine. We'll get on the computers after the monkeys have gone to bed."

Guess what her mommy and daddy are doing now that our little monkey is in bed?

That is funny. Now I have the song '5 Little Monkeys' in my head.

Way too funny! BTW... there are a couple of good articles about New Orleans in the NY Times today - one on the transition from FEMA trailers for the most difficult placements, and the other about Dr. John and his latest album, which is an angry tribute to New Orleans.

Sounds like life at my house :) Although my hubby is usually online while I'm on a date with my favorite 50 something year old black woman ~ Oprah :)

I love to see how kids incorporate events and themes from their lives into their play.
