I've been eating, breathing and sleeping Vacation Bible School this week. It's the third year in a row that I've headed it up, and this has been by far the smoothest year. I have a great staff of volunteers, and 155 kids who are having a ball. It's fun to do, but is a LOT of work, and I am looking forward to it ending tomorrow. Granted, next week I dive into spending all day teaching at a day camp, which will make for longer days, but at least I will get paid for that. And I'm not in charge. Oh glorious, glorious not being in charge.
So that's why I haven't been around to visit your blogs much this week. I've been ironing logos onto T-shirts, creating daily newsletters, running rehearsals for the dramas, practicing the motions for the songs...
If you send your kids to VBS this year, tell the director, and all the volunteer staff, how much you appreciate their work. Even better, offer to help!
Hopefully next week will be a bit calmer around here.
Hopefully.
And thank you for your oh so sweet and encouraging comments on my bloggy birthday post. I could not have received any better presents. Thanks.
(oh yeah... and Obama? Woo-hoo! there was celebrating around the Maypole Tuesday night! and then I went back to VBS stuff...)

oh, wow, running a things like VBS is all out-put. I've not stepped in to that degree, but last year I ran registration (400 kids, whose epi pen just got dropped off?) and I walked out flat out exhausted every day.
You are the salt of the earth - go be salty & then take a nap.
Sorry I missed your bloggy-birthday. Let me just say, I'm happy I found you, painted maypole!
The best part of VBS... when it is OVER! LOL
Happy Birthday to your blog by the way!
Oh, come ON! You should have that joy, joy, joy, joy down in your heart, down in your heart to STAY!
Well for what it's worth, it sounds like you're doing a great job and I bet all the kids are having so much fun with you this week!
TGIF! :)
I hope you have a nice, cool drink waiting for you by this evening!
I have very nice VBS memories from childhood, and I'm sure I wasn't one bit grateful to my teachers.
Happy Blogday, in case I missed it. I'm a spaz about what I have and haven't commented on.
Hats off to you! I think there'll be a special place in heaven reserved for VBS, Sunday School, CCD and Hebrew school teachers.
Our own VBS is in July and it is indeed a production. But so darn fun!
Wow. I can't imagine how much work goes into VBS. Good for you!
And did I read that right when you said you had a migraine while you were at VBS? Ouch!
One of my friends is planning VBS and I can't believe how much work it is! Okay, yeah I can.
Oh girl, it's next week for us, and I am a little bit nauseous about how much work its going to be. I am always thrilled I did it when it's over and VERY THANKFUL it's over. Hang in there.
I am sure it is a fabulous VBS, even if you aren't in charge!
