Uncanny Resemblance

Yesterday I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (which I think is my favorite HP movie to date - I really thought it was well done) but at one point in the movie I had to clap my hand over my mouth to keep from laughing out loud. Perhaps it is just me, but the giant Grawp looked an awful lot like our esteemed president (clueless look and large ears included). I tried to find a good picture to link you to, so you could check it out for yourselves, but Grawp appears to not have made it into any publicity stills, and the few sketches and such I found did not do the resemblance justice. Wondered if anyone else had thought the same?

HA! Laughing out loud. Now I know I must see the movie.

I haven't yet seen the movie, but I have thought about the resemblance of the Ministry in the OOTP to the Bush admin, as far as the inept way that each reacts to the threat of the Death Eaters/terrorists. I wonder if the Bush/Grawp similarity is an intentional extension of that. I can't wait to see it. Just waiting for the crowds to die down. Were there crowds?

I saw the movie on a Friday afternoon, and it wasn't crowded at all. The resemblance was enough that I thought it had to be intentional, but of course, not exactly like it. Through the eyes/nose and the ears, mostly. And that is an interesting comparison between the Ministry of Magic and the Bush Admin. Diversionary tactics, anyone?

Very funny. I wonder how many other people will notice this.

hahaha, big and stupid? - too good!!

I haven't seen it yet, not sure if I want to due to the fact that they seem to always change or add some facts that differ from the book - but
I've just asked my daughter who's been to see it yesterday and she agrees with you, she does see a resemblance ... lol

can't wait to see it! (Maybe I'll slip away during the week if I can find a sitter for the kids...)

A couple of years ago, I carved a jack o'lantern that seriously resembled W.

I thought it was the best HP movie so far too. I think it's because they weren't trying to be as absolutely faithful to the novel as before. Cinematically, that works better, eventhough the bibliphile in me rejects it.

Coincidence?? Or are the producers closet Democrats?

Bwahaha! That's just perfect.

And I'm glad that the movie is better. The Goblet of Fire really did leave me quite cold, especially since I thought it was the book most liable to be successfully adapted to film.
