Holly and I have decided that BP needs to find a new meaning for its acronym (it used to be "British Petroleum, but they seem to have dropped that) that reflects the depth of the tragedy that is this oil leak in the gulf. We are currently taking submissions... all angry and snarky suggestions will be given full consideration. Please leave your suggestions in the comments below.
Completely new acronyms also welcome.

As angry as I too feel, I can't help but point the finger at myself. How can I blame them for a mistake harvesting the product I absolutely insist on having?
So I'm torn. I think this is one of the biggest tragedies I've seen in my life, but I can't blame BP anymore than myself (and all other petroleum users).
Do you think I'm off base?
Oh Catherine, you are totally on base. My husband and I were today talking about possibly getting a new car, and we talked quite a bit about gas usage and hybrids and the like, and I said "how can we be talking about the oil in the gulf and continue to use gasoline at the rate we do?"
We can't make the switch over night. No one can. but we have to start making changes. Small ones in our families, and big huge ones in our world.
and our government has got to step up. and we need to hold them accountable as well.
