signs

So we have all these old cans of paints that the previous homeowners left in the basement... many of them colors that weren't even on the walls when WE bought the house (Like that yellow, for instance. That pink, unfortunately was. I'll have to post a picture of the pink room sometime. Even the closet door and ceiling and the CEILING FAN BLADES). We've opened the cans up to dry them out to dispose of them.

Then I thought... Hmm... we have all these random boards they left lying around the backyard, what if I used some of these old paints to slather them in bold colors, then painted fun signs to hang from the fence around our pool/yard/garden.

So I did. Paint them bold colors.

And now I'm trying to decide what fun sayings/pictures to paint ON them. Ideas?

What fun! I love the idea. i wanted to make signs out of the the old picket fence when we tore it down, but I'm too lazy to do the regular chores, so...

Anyway, you said Pool/ Lawn / Garden.

Pool: Seven days without swimming makes one weak.
Lawn: I always thought a yard was three feet, then I started mowing the lawn.
Garden: you can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt.

Have fun. Can't wait to see your finished project.

Egad. I read this post a couple of days ago and I didn't comment because I couldn't think of anything clever for your signs. I thought I would wait a while and see if I came up with anything. I still haven't. Sorry. I am in a creative suck hole lately.

YOU are the creative one. What have you come up with? :)

What a great idea! Now I have an urge to make signs.

I'm thinking:
"Laws of physics strictly enforced."
"This is not a sign."
"Yodelling prohibited, except by permit."

You know what? This reminds me of the good old days of Monday Mission. And you know what else? It's Monday. That's a sign if ever I saw one.

I only found this today. And I have no great ideas. When in doubt, go to Shakespeare...eg, garden of delights, in my salad days,
Mind has now blanked again. I'm in Ottawa without my handy reference books. I'll be home over the weekend, though and dig up a few more.

Blogger just ate my comment. Arg. How about Shakespeare shorties like 'in my salad daze'?

Do like the MASH signs. Give the distance and direction to all sorts of places, including Candyland.

A suggestion that I do have when you get to the last bit is to pour sand into the dredges of paint, then you can toss it.
